To celebrate the completion of major renovations to improve the Viera East Golf course and the Hook & Eagle Tavern, there is a grand opening event hosted for all who come out to partake in the fun on Saturday February 11, starting at 10 AM (9 am for those who participate in the Long Drive Contest) and continuing through 8 PM. This is a full day of fun for the whole family!
Golfers will want to come participate by playing 9 or 18-holes of golf on our championship 18-hole golf course designed by one of the game’s masters, Joe Lee. The course is a delicate mélange of the natural terrain. Viera’s native marshlands and picturesque lakes, make this golf course one of Joe’s finest creations. The fairways are well-designed with generous landing areas, but Lee, famous for his creative use of bunkering, has done his best to thwart low scoring. Those often deadly bunkers, along with the prevailing coastal breezes, will challenge even the lowest handicappers. Viera East Golf Club is truly worth the drive. Nongolfers will want to come out and experience the tastes of Hook & Eagle Tavern with food tray samples, free jello-shots and H&E famous Jungle Juice, along with their very popular $6 Burger Night special all day. Facebook site 321 Flavor: Where Brevard Eats has comments raving about the food at H&E. “Absolutely delicious. We split our sandwiches so we both got to try a bit of each. The Jacked up fries are to die for. She ordered the Barn Burn burger and it was definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while.”(MM) Definitely a reason to come to opening day and try them out!
Participating vendors will be offering discounts, free give-a-ways, and displaying their businesses available throughout Viera East. The Viera East Travel Club, not affiliated with Viera East CDD, will be hosting a booth to invite you to explore upcoming trips for 2023-2024 in State as well as abroad offering club members a 5% discount for travel. Between trip discounts, car detailing, storm shutter options, pet discounts, and more.. participants will enjoy visiting the booths and learning about valuable savings.
Kids are welcome! This is not just for adults! The Viera East Golf Club has something for everyone! Did you know they have a free kids club that allows children under age 16 to golf for free with a paying adult? If you don’t know if your kids will enjoy golf, this is the day to bring them out and let them have fun with golf games and kid prizes all day! Plus, the putting greens are free to anyone who wants to come out and practice their putting! Great way for Mom or Dad to have some one-on-one time with the little ones and enjoying the outside beauty of the course.
When the community comes together to enjoy nature, the beauty of the course and celebrate, it brings people together in a way that increases our strength as a community and creates a village.

The day starts off with Summ’s Up coffee truck vendor offering selected coffee and smoothies to our early bird golfers! The putting contest will run all day with the finalists returning at 4:30 for the final championship. Rockstar Entertainment will be MC & DJ from 10 -5 offering live announcement of events and great music to keep us moving! The long drive contest begins at 9:00 and is separated by age divisions starting with 41-up! The day won’t be complete without hourly raffles, tasting trays, free hotdogs for golfers playing 18 holes, jello shots and H&E Jungle Juice samples, kid games and a full day of fun, not to mention great food & drinks from Hook & Eagle Tavern.
If you like games, you can try your skills at additional games of chipping corn hole, tee toss, golf beer pong! There is always something fun to add for our golf enthusiast!
It’s not over when the sun goes down on this grand opening event! Frank Rios from Rios Rock Band will be playing live music from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Hook & Eagle Tavern. The VEGC will also be offering for the FIRST TIME EVER glow in the dark putting! Just bring your putter, or borrow one from VEGC and hit the putting course for “Glow in the Dark” Fun! Drink specials will be flowing all night long!
The Viera East Golf Course recently won the BEST golf course on the Space Coast and Hook & Eagle was named BEST Restaurant on the Space Coast by Space Coast Living Magazine. A true honor from devoted customers!
Golf has gotten a reputation for being a serious sport, and If there's a sport that requires more focus and a quieter mind, I'm not aware of it. However, the reality is all-around performance from tee to green is a social experience, equipped with a golf cart, club, and if you're lucky some sunshine.
Upgrades Galore
The East Viera CDD Board diligently focused on improving this entire facility for Brevard County residents to come and have a positive experience in this community. An investment of 3+ Million was spent extending the driving range, reinstalling a new irrigation system, repairing building infrastructures and redesigning a new outside patio bar and dining area. Along with a new roof, remodeled Pro-shop and updated bathrooms, the new paint colors and poured flooring brings class to the previous outdated facilities.
“The current board’s intention in the investment was to make this venue a positive experience for everyone in our community and Brevard County. We want people to bring their families, enjoy the amenities of both the Viera East Golf Club and the Hook & Eagle Tavern and make this a place the community is proud of”, quoted from the Lifestyle Coordinator Michelle Dale.
Joe Lee is the architect behind this award-winning course. The fairways are loved not just for the design but for painting a natural wildlife corridor full of deer, foxes, bobcats, bald eagles and sandhill cranes. You are likely to see some when you stick around long enough. The lakes and sand dunes that roll through the golf course are very inviting while lined with Viera homes and palm trees in the backdrop. Working on your par? Increase your skills while enjoying the lush environment of Viera.
Michelle Webb, Lifestyle Coordinator was able to create this event to fit the family dynamics of the community. Designing events that increase participation and community engagement has been at the forefront of Viera East’s mission. And they have set a great example not just for renewing this golf course, but for taking a green space and improving it. Making it more accessible to the community and increasing public interest has been a huge impact.
Viera East Golf Club is moving into hosting more women’s events such as International Women’s Golf Day, which is now an annual event held each June to highlight women in a typically male centered sport. To follow up with their great turn out, there is a monthly “Sassy Saturdays’’ event held monthly which gives women an incentive to come out and give golfing a try. This has built more participation to golf, friendships, fun, and turned into a local favorite. As a recent first-time driver of a golf cart it didn't take me long to feel competent behind the wheel. It was waaaay more fun than I thought it would be. When I heard the blue tooth speakers come on with all kinds of music playing, I knew I was in the right place and the upbeat vibe of Viera East Golf Club made everything awesome! They will make sure you have everything you need to have a positive experience. No judgement.
Golf as outdoor time and self-care? YES!
Giving yourself more space for hobbies, interests and socialization could boost your self-esteem and confidence. There is tons of research showing that being outside in nature increases serotonin to the brain. Combined with learning a new sport or enjoying an activity will surely increase the happy vibes. We know serotonin is increased with additional vitamin D (sun) exposure. Human skin has an inherent serotonergic system that appears to generate serotonin. Disconnecting from the noise of everyday life is important to self-care and gold creates the perfect opportunity for such a mindset.

Many people came out to enjoy the community and take advantage of some awesome food and drink specials! Vendors were able to meet new customers as well as reconnect and network with some of their favorite familiar faces.
